Inspired by my local cathedral in Herefordshire, Blooms of Ascension celebrates the ornate glory of stained-glass. Paying homage to the ornate craftsmanship of the cathedral’s interior, a series of embroideries combine traditional techniques such as Goldwork, Tambour beading, and Couching, reflecting on the gilded aesthetics of the building. These are contrasted with recycled materials, creating embellishment from fused plastics, and CD’s printed with images of fractured, floral motifs extracted from the ostentatious glass.
