Inspired by the otherworldly, Buggin Out explores the microscopic world of insects and the stages of metamorphosis. This theme of transformation is explored through mixed-media, performative costume, creating hybrid forms that combine humanoid characteristics with insect features. Imagery extracted from caterpillars look at the pleated, elongated forms through machine knitting methods. Bold, geometric patterns are tie dyed to silk, influenced by the intricate details of Picasso beetles, paired with the floaty movements of butterfly wings.
